In my quest for self awareness I wondered if I am courageous, faithful or just plain oblivious to the risk of danger.
I remembered back to watching the cartoon, Mr. Magoo as a child. Magoo was so nearsighted which led him into dangerous situations. He always bypassed danger though and his catch phrase at the end of each episode was……
Come on, you know it. “Oh Magoo, you’ve done it again.”
Life is full of dangers. We put ourselves in danger each time we enter our kitchens, drive our cars, or simply go to bed. If we thought about it we would be crippled with fear to the point of curling up into a ball and being unable to function at all.
Isn’t that what we’re doing when we remain in a dangerous or abusive situation? Or resist change because we are fearful of the unknown? Wear a mask rather than showing our vulnerability?
It wasn’t courage or blind faith which caused Mr. Magoo to be oblivious to dangerous situations. He couldn’t see!
Do I want to live my life in a self imposed prison of fear? Avoiding risks and keeping myself from trying new things? or pursuing my dreams? Missing out on experiencing the fullness of life?

CHOOSING FAITH OVER FEAR
I choose a life with the same uninhibited spirit as Mr. Magoo. But not out of ignorance. Instead I act with boldness, knowing that my steps are guided. That God leads me, protects me. I don’t live with blind faith but rather an intentional act of trust, and not a foolish gamble.
